Commandant: Serge-Dany Marin
Commandant Serge-Dany Marin was born in Montreal, and grew up in St-Michel, Villeray and the Plateau Mont-Royal. He began his career as a Police Officer in 1991 with the Sureté du Québec and in 1993, he decided to continue his career with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Initially patrolling in Tétreauville-Mercier, Pointe-aux-Trembles and Petite-Patrie as a Senior Officer, his career was filled with challenges he took up with delight. He learned many facets of the skills needed for patrolling. Whether in Rollerblades, on a bicycle or as an intervention agent, he adores contact with the public that the position allows him. Promoted to Sergeant in 2000, he worked in the Saint-Michel Poste de quartier until 2005.
From 2005 to 2007, he was assigned to various units in order to prepare him for his new functions, initially with the Section de la planification opérationnelle, where he took part in the development of major Public Order services (fireworks, fête nationale, children and district festivals). He was also one of the people in charge of the installation of the crowd control measures for the conference on climate change in Montreal 2005. In 2006, he was assigned to the Division du traitement des appels (9-1-1) as the assistant to the person in charge of the unit.
In the summer of 2007, he was named Commandant and Superior in Charge of the Avance project, where he was able to show his leadership and operational effectiveness.
Promoted to the rank of Commandant in January 2008, he acts as Cadre de service à la Division de la qualité des services where his main role is the Vigie des opérations policières et la surveillance du territoire. During the last two years, he has acquired vast operational experience while in charge of many large scale events.
Holder of a Masters in Management from the École Nationale d'administration publique, a certificate in communication from the University of Montreal, as well as a Certificate in Supervision from the École des hautes études commerciales, Mr. Marin has shown on many occasions his knowledge, rigor and leadership.
Mr. Marin arrives with enthusiasm and energy. He will work, with all his personnel, to maintain their excellent services to the community of Anjou, while working in close cooperation with the partners in the sector.
