Commandant: Jean O'Malley
Commandant Jean O' Malley began his career with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) November 21st, 1988, as a patrol officer in district 23 (Westmount St-Henri).
Later, he would patrol district 33 (downtown area, known today as PDQ 21 and 22) where he took part in establishing Project ACE in Saint-Louis Square, which included the development of a personal approach to citizens through a foot patrol.
Appointed Sergeant in 1996, Mr. O' Malley continued his career at the Poste de quartier 22, where he also helped establish a foot patrol on Ste.-Catherine. After that, he became a supervisor at the Division du traitement des appels, while also sitting on the organizing committee of the Association of Public Communication Officials (APCO) as well as being responsible for the communication plan of the SITI 2 Project, the computer program directing calls to the SPVM.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 2004, he served in that capacity at both the Postes de quartier 3 and 45. He was responsible for the services d'ordre and the establishment of a bicycle patrol for cadets.
In June 2008, Mr. O' Malley became Commandant and, as an Executive, joined a team of commanders in charge of coordinating police operations and major events on the Island of Montreal. He has been the chief of Poste de quartier 45 since November 2009.
Commandant O' Malley intends to use his sense of community service and determination to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the citizens of PDQ 45.
