PDQ 42 - Job posting school crossing guard on-call

The SPVM is presently looking for interested candidates to fill several positions as on-call school crossing guards, in different neighbourhood police stations.

Summary of the position:

Under the responsability of the station's police chief, the school crossing guard's main duty is the surveillance of students crossing at intersections to and from school, in order to prevent any traffic accidents.  He assures the safety of the students, informs and educates them on the rules of safety.

Nature of the position:

• On-call school crossing guards replace permanent school crossing guards.
• The call for a replacement is generally made early in the morning.
• There is no minimum of hours guaranteed.
• Split schedule :
  • Morning from 8:00 am to 9:00 am
  • Lunch from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Afternoon from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Requirements:

• Full availability, five days per week, for the entire school year;
• Make replacements at all intersections within your neighbourhood, as well as surrounding neighbourhoods;
• Short written exam of selection;
• Medical exam;
• Security investigation;
• One day training.

Skills relevant:

• Being responsable, assiduous and punctual;
• Being vigilant and having a good judgement.

Working conditions:

Hourly rate : 12,51$ / hour

Provided equipment: Security vest, stop sign, rain caot, rubber boots, anti-skid soles and a whistle.

Transportation : At the expense of the guard.
