Commandant: Sophie Roy
Sophie Roy joined the SPVM in January 1988 after studying criminology. She has 23 years of experience in our organization and has climbed through the ranks over the years until being named commander in April 2009. Over the course of her career, she has patrolled the streets in a number of Montréal neighbourhoods, including Anjou, St-Léonard, Petite Bourgogne, Pointe St-Charles and St-Michel.
After earning a university certificate in human resources management in 2006, Commandant Roy served as duty manager in the Section de la vigie des pratiques policières. She was part of the team that oversaw the management of police operations and major events across the entire territory.
Dedicated, engaged with the public and intent on providing top-quality service, Commandant Roy wants to strengthen ties with the residents, business owners and partners so the people in Montréal-Nord can enjoy a safe and peaceful environment. She is pleased to be joining a dynamic and professional team that is in close touch with the concerns of the community.
