Martial Mallette,
commandant of PDQ 39

Commandant Martial Mallette

On April 8, 2013, commandant Martial Mallette has been nominated chief of the Poste de quartier 39.

Commandant Martial Mallette began his career with the SPVM in1995, in Verdun in what was District 22 at the time. The introduction of the neighbourhood policing model in 1997 took him to Poste de quartier 15 in Ville-Émard/Côte St-Paul and subsequently to Lachine, to PDQ 8.

After a brief sojourn with the Groupe d’intervention in the Ouest region, he returned to Verdun and Lachine as a senior officer. Whether he was working as a bicycle patroller or an intervention officer, he really enjoyed being in direct contact with the residents and serving the public.

Promoted to sergeant in 2005, he was assigned to PDQ 3, whose territory includes Pierrefonds and Île Bizard. He was in charge of the ATV patrol and introduced anti-alcohol operations on the snowmobile trails in WestIsland, a first for the SPVM. He was also very active in the quality of life committee, because the wellbeing of his colleagues is very important to him. In 2007, Mr. Mallette set up and supervised the Module action par projet (MAP) for PDQ 3. This multidisciplinary team is responsible for resolving various recurring issues in the sector.

From 2008 to 2011, he served as sergeant advisor to the Ouest regional directorate, dealing with corporate matters. Promoted to commander in June 2011, he worked as service manager with the Section de la vigie des pratiques policières, where his main role was to oversee the success of police operations across the entire territory.

Commandant Mallette has a university certificate in police management from the Université de Montréal and a certificate in management from the Hautes études commerciales (HEC).

Mr. Mallette recognizes the importance of police involvement in the community to build strong ties with the residents, and he is very proud to join the dynamic team at Poste de quartier 39.
