From last May 17th up to June 13th marked the holding of our corporate 2010 Bicycle Security Campaign. During this event, police in Parc-Extension held several activities ranging from talks on prevention to reactive operations aimed at cyclists who do not comply with roadway safety rules.
A total of 59 traffic tickets were handed out to delinquent cyclists during this period.
It is important to remember that a cyclist receiving a traffic ticket for failing to stop at a red light or at a stop sign will have 3 demerit points added to his or her driver's record.
You must also bear in mind that even though you do not have a driver's licence, 3 demerit points will be recorded to your file and automatically incurred when you obtain your first licence.
Have a nice summer and be safe!
