Inspecteur Alain Simoneau
Alain Simoneau was named chief of Poste de quartier 21 in October 2007. Before accepting this appointment, he was the advisor to the Assistant Directeur, Chef of the SPVM's Direction des Opérations, and the commandant in charge of the 2007 AVANCE street gangs project.
Mr. Simoneau began his career in 1984 as a patrouilleur in Mile-End, the Plateau-Mont-Royal and downtown. He was quickly promoted to sergent and, in 1992, to lieutenant.
After being elected to the Fraternité des policiers et policières de la Communauté urbaine de Montréal in 1994, Commandant Simoneau served in several different positions, including union président and directeur exécutif.
His term at the Fraternité des policiers et policières hailed a period of co-operative management with the SPVM, advancing the progress of police functions and leading to new approaches in community policing. He also contributed to the optimization of the neighbourhood police model in 2004.
Throughout all this, Inspecteur Simoneau continued to work on keeping his knowledge and skills up to date. Having already earned a certificate in industrial relations, he pursued his university education in human resource management.
