Jean-Ernest Célestin, Inspector
Inspector Jean-Ernest Célestin has been working with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) since 1991. He took over the leadership of Poste de quartier 15 on January 15, 2008.
In his early days as a police officer, he had some very eye-opening experiences as a double agent with Section des stupéfiants (narcotics). His career path then led him to Rosemont - Petit-Patrie as an agent senior, to the Intervention Nord unit, and then on to the former Groupe tactique, or tactical squad. Mr. Célestin has also been a member of the SPVM's ceremonial group since its creation in 1992.
Assignments such as working as an enquêteur in the Section des stupéfiants Ouest, as a UN observer at a mission in Haiti and as a conseiller en services d'ordre with the Section planification opérationnelle have given him the opportunity to develop a wide array of competencies.
Commandant Célestin graduated from the Université de Montréal in police and security management and continued on to do a Master's at the École d'administration publique. He also teaches policing techniques at the Collège Ahuntsic.
With a strong commitment to the community, Commadant Célestin demonstrates respect and professionalism. He understands the importance of the long-standing bonds that connect the community and the police and the need for partners and residents to be engaged in the neighbourhood.
