PDQ 4 - Dollard-des-Ormeaux, proud partner of the SPVM network

At Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Wednesday June 9^th, 2009, the city of Montreal and that of Dollard-des-Ormeaux signed an agreement of partnership between the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) and the Patrol Service of the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux. This partnership consists of cooperative training, exchange of information and working together by better understanding the respective roles and responsibilities.  This agreement in partnership is integrated into the development of the SPVM's network.

As well, May 5^th, 2010, in the presence of members of the media and employees alike, the Mayor, Mr. Edward Janiszewski, the General Director, Mr. Jack Benzaquen, the Director of the Patrol Service of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Mr. Gerald Lauzon, the Director of the SPVM, Mr. Yvan Delorme and the Assistant Director of the West Region, Mr. Pierre Brochet officialised the agreement.

This agreement permits the Patrol Service of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and the police personnel of Poste de quartier 4 serving this municipality to:

• hold formal exchanges of information between our services;
• improve the coordination of our interventions;
• better train our personnel;
• have a much larger visibility and an operational efficiency which increases the sense of safety for our citizens;
• exchange ideas and share our mutual expertise;
• optimize the utilisation of our operational resources.

Since its introduction in June 2009 several concrete actions have materialized:

• exchange of patrol services between our units (COBRA);
• training sessions given to the personnel of the patrol service by SPVM's training unit;
• an integration day was held along with different work shops;
• requisition of personnel for peaceful public community events, distribution of missing persons photos , traffic patrol in problem areas;
• joint projects for resolving local issues;
• weekly and monthly meetings held to exchange pertinent information.

Proud of the success in the last year, this agreement confirms, once more, the interest of the SPVM to offer a better service to the citizens of Dollard-des-Ormeaux. It also permits, with this partnership to maintain order at the same time increasing the sense of security throughout the population.
