Activités du SPVM

The team at PDQ 3 works to maintain security in its territory, in compliance with the SPVM's global priorities. To this end, the team has established these objectives for 2010.

Provide police visibility to foster direct, regular contact with the public:

• Ensure residents enjoy a safe and peaceful urban environment by maintaining their satisfaction with regard to police presence and reducing events related to antisocial behaviour.
• In summer, relaunch Operation Coins paisibles (ATV, foot and bicycle patrol / with MAP involvement).

 Maintain efforts against street gang crime:

• Reduce the number of street gang incidents and increase the public sense of security.
• Carry out dissuasive and preventive police operations in target areas with the help of the Module d'action par projet.

• Presentation of the Gang de choix (Gang of Choice) and discussion about Cyberintimidation in elementary and secondary schools.

 Continue operations to counter domestic violence

• Increase the confidence of marital violence victims towards Police Officers.
• Meet victims through the Alternat'elle organization and ensure follow-ups with clients.

 Enforce driver compliance with the Highway Safety Code:

• Change high-risk behaviour and reduce the number of accidents.
• Maintain radar and breathalyser operations (including ATVs and snowmobiles).

 Reduce risky pedestrian behaviour:

• Enforce driver and pedestrian compliance with the Highway Safety Code.
• Establish weekly targets at different intersections and plan operations based on problems.
• On the prevention level, meet with schools and the elderly.
