Commandant Richard Thouin
Commandant Richard Thouin joined the SPVM in 1985, working first in Ville St-Laurent and later moving on to Little Italy and Parc-Extension.
He continued his career in the Groupe d’intervention tactique (SWAT), working 17 years as an explosives technician (bomb disposal expert), submarine diver and armed intervention specialist.
In 2007, he was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the supervision of the constabulary team in the Centre-Sud, Petite Bourgogne and Pointe St-Charles. Later he was assigned to PDQ 44 (Rosemont) and PDQ 39 (Montréal-Nord).
In February 2012, he was promoted to commander in the Vigie des pratiques policières section, where he was in charge of supervising police call response practices and operational command of the entire SPVM territory.
It was with pride and honour that he accepted the role of police chief in PDQ 1, to safeguard the public in the municipalities of Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Baie-D'Urfé, Ste-Anne de Bellevue and Senneville.
