Protect your cell

The Protège ton cell (protect your cell) project came into being a few years ago with the Sans fil project, in response to the fact that many young people get bullied or have their electronic devices stolen. It became clear that something had to be done to reach them and make them aware of the issue.

Police officers in Montréal, Laval and Longueuil joined forces in March 2014 to address the issue. Their efforts led to the production of a new awareness video and a Web site Protège ton cell

Prevention tips

  • Be vigilant when you are out and about
  • Young people should go out as a group rather than on their own
  • Stick to well-lit and busy areas
  • Protect your property by not exposing it more than necessary
  • Be particularly careful when you are crowded in or being jostled
  • Take note of the IMEI number (to find it, just punch in*#06#)
  • Immediately call 911 if you have been robbed, or report it to your neighbourhood police station.
