Thefts in cars: prevention tips

28 november 2017

The police officers from neighbourhood police station 1 wish to inform the population of a few thefts in cars, during the overnight hours. These occurred in the cities of our sector, while the cars were parked in the owner’s private driveways and while in public parking lots. We wish to take this opportunity to remind the citizens of some prevention tips.

  • Never leave anything in sight in your car;
  • If you have a laptop, get a cable lock that lets you lock it in your trunk;
  • Park in well-lit areas;
  • Always lock your doors and close your windows;
  • Put your belongings in the trunk before you get to your destination;
  • If you are robbed, and witnessed the theft, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the thief and his/her escape route;
  • If you did not witness the theft, you can file a police report online on our website.

Safety and security is everyone’s business. Any persons possessing information, pertaining to the present cases or any other case, you can call (confidentially) Info-Crime Montréal at 514 393-1133.
