Priest arrested for sexual assaults: SPVM looking for more potential victims

Montréal, March 2, 2017. - Investigators from the Module des agressions sexuelles of the Section des crimes majeurs of the Service de police dela Ville de Montréal (SPVM) have arrested a priest for crimes of a sexual nature. The suspect is facing accusations in three cases. The alleged actions were committed between 1994 and 2011. Investigators believe there may be more victims.

The suspect, Brian Boucher, 56-year-old, appeared before the Court of Québec today. He is facing charges for sexual touching, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault and breaking and entering. The suspect was first arrested on January 12, 2017. He was then released on promise to appear and conditions. Investigators arrested him again on March 1,2017, inrelation to two additional complaints. The investigation began following a first complaint received at the end of August 2015. The Archdiocese of Montréal supported the police officers in their investigation.

The suspect was active in ten churches between 1985 and 2015, most of them in the western part of theislandofMontréal. More specifically, these churches are located in the following linked cities and boroughs: Senneville, LaSalle,Dorval, Town of Mount-Royal and downtown Montréal.

Anyone who may have been a victim of Brian Boucher or who knows a potential victim is asked to visit his or her neighbourhood police station or to dial 9-1-1.
