Gaby Luanga Kombe a été vu pour la dernière fois le 23 août 1999 à Montréal. M. Kombe devait se rendre à la station de métro Pie-IX pour rencontrer un ami. Plus tard dans la soirée, il a téléphoné son fils pour lui dire qu'il était en direction pour la maison. Il n'a jamais été revu depuis.
