PDQ 11 : Invitation and tips to prevent bicycle theft

31 may 2017

Bicycle theft is a reality in our sector and unfortunately, every year several people have their bicycle stolen.

Here are a few prevention tips to make it more difficult for thieves to steal your bike:

  • Register your bicycle and have it engraved (see below for dates of the PROJET NUMÉRO activity).
  • Lock your bicycle with a high quality lock.
  • Secure your bicycle to a bicycle rack or stand when possible.
  • If your front wheel has a quick release, remove it and lock it along with the rear wheel and the frame.
  • Avoid leaving your bicycle locked in the same place for several days in a row if it is not supervised.
  • Record your bicycle’s serial number and description, and keep a photo of it.

For more information, please visit the SPVM’s website.
