Training

École de police, Port-au-Prince, HaïtiCandidates who pass all three steps of the selection process receive one to two weeks training, depending on the mission requirements.

The training is provided by members of the RCMP's international peacekeeping unit, at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa.

Training objectives

  • Cultural awareness and information about the morals and customs of the target country
  • Information about the geopolitical situation
  • Information about the existing police system
  • Living conditions to expect on the mission
  • Medical training
  • Awareness of the emotional and psychological effects of foreign service on police officers and their families
  • For armed missions, weapons training
