In 2011, SPVM police officers answered 427,596 calls. Whether they work in sécurité routière, metro patrol, the modules d'actions par projet, enquêtes spécialisées, community action relations, patrouille nautique, the brigade canine or the cavalerie - to name just a few units in the police service - all these officers are working every day to uphold peace and security across the territory of Montréal.
With this many members, the SPVM requires an extensive fleet. The officers have 1,104 vehicles at their disposal, a 14% increase since 2002. Despite this, fuel consumption is only up by 8%!
Did you know that the SPVM owns seven hybrid vehicles and plans to buy four more in 2008?
