Benoit Amyot,
commandant of PDQ 33
Commandant: Benoit Amyot
Commandant Amyot began his SPVM career on January 21, 1990, as a patrol officer. He acquired in-depth knowledge of Montréal and its diverse citizenry by working in many different neighbourhoods, including Verdun, Ville-Émard, Côte-St-Paul, Saint-Michel, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Ville-Marie.
When the neighbourhood police was created in 1997, Mr. Amyot had a ringside seat and enthusiastically took part in its introduction at Poste de quartier 22, in Ville-Marie, and at PDQ 23, in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, where he worked until July 2001. He was then named supervisor at the Division des communications opérationnelles. Holding the same position at PDQ 10, in Ahuntsic-Cartierville, he was promoted to lieutenant in October 2004. Then it was back to PDQ 22 to pursue his career.
With 21 years of experience under his belt, he was promoted to the rank of commander in May 2011 at the Vigie des pratiques policières and, as of November 14, 2011, he has been the new chief at PDQ 33. Commandant Amyot recognizes the importance of police and citizens working closely together. He firmly believes that the neighbourhood policing model contributes to the quality of life of the Parc-Extension residents.
