Problem solving

The goal of the problem solving approach is to zero in on and root out the sources of problems, rather than to just take care of the effects.

This approach is based on the belief that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) should concentrate on identifying problems (such as public peace and road safety), analysing them, and finding solutions that target their root causes.

It depends on cooperation with citizens and other partners to find lasting solutions for the various issues that affect the quality of life of the residents in the neighbourhood.
