Working as a police cadet

You don't have to study policing technique to become a cadet and work part time at the SPVM. If you're interested in policing and you're a cégep or university student, you can work with us as a police cadet.

Every year, the SPVM hired and trains about a hundred college and university students to work as police cadets. To prepare you to work as a cadet, the SPVM will give you a 45-hour paid training course. The SPVM provides the uniforms and equipment you need for the job.

Working as a police cadet paves the way toward becoming an SPVM officer: about 35% of the cadets who apply as officers are hired by the SPVM.

You can work as a police cadet part-time all year as long as you are a full-time student.

The SPVM is one of the only police forces in Canada that offers this program.
