The very nature of police work demands that members of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) be attentive observers who are highly attuned to the details around them.

Spurred by this professional curiosity, it was a natural step for the objects and items, facts and documents that reflect the professional history and heritage of the police to be collected and displayed for interpretation. And so the Musée de la police de Montréal was created.
