ONLINE Citizen Reporting System

23 september 2013

Montreal, September 23rd, 2013 – Today, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is introducing a new Internet application allowing citizens to submit a police report online for certain minor offenses, without having to visit a neighborhood police station. This new service, available 24/7, will be accessible via the homepage of the SPVM Website.

« This convenient service is an alternative for a tech savvy clientele that has little time to file a report in person. With this user-friendly system, we hope to obtain a more accurate portrait of minor offenses that have occurred on the territory of Montreal. », according to Simonetta Barth, inspector and project manager.

The application is available on mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

It is important for citizens to know that they can use the online system or continue to file a report in person or by phone with SPVM personnel.

For more information regarding this service and to inquire about which types of reports can be completed online, information pamphlets will also be available in various public locations such as neighbourhood police stations, borough offices, Accès Montréal, CLSC, Tandem offices, etc.

The SPVM invites the population to visit their information kiosks which will be located in four major shopping centers on the Island of Montreal. The schedule is as follows :

- Wednesday, September 25th :  Complexe Desjardins
- Thursday, September 26th :  Fairview Pointe Claire
- Friday, September 27th :  Rockland Centre
- Saturday, September 28th :  Galeries d’Anjou
