Role of the motorcycle officer

Agent motardThe agent motard (motorcycle officer) actively pursues the objectives of the Police Service in regards to road safety.

His duties include:

  • ensuring citizens safety at social or cultural events (parades, demonstrations, etc);
  • directing traffic, particularly at rush hour, and being a dissuasive presence to prevent violations and help traffic flow;
  • controlling traffic, crowds, to maintain order, and establish safety zones during major events;
  • carrying out radar operations at indicated locations;
  • being used as escort to ensure full safety of the movement of particular people or vehicles.

In winter, the motorcycle Officer fulfills his role in a patrol car.
