October 30, 2008 - This year the campaign theme is "Choisis ton gang," the youth choose-your-friends program.
At the SPVM, we do prevention 52 weeks of the year! In the neighbourhood stations, prevention activities are held every week by community relations officers.
Workshops in schools, meetings with business owners, booths in public places, and visits to seniors centres are just some of the activities we use to raise citizen awareness of a whole range of issues.
Please check your neighbourhood station microsite to find out what activities are planned for this week.

In conjunction with local activities, the SPVM is seizing this opportunity to launch an information brochure on hate crimes. ![]()
"Recognize it and report it" is a brochure that informs people about hate crimes and the recourse available in hate crime situations. The SPVM will work with community organizations to distribute the brochure.
A grid for police officers, outlining the procedures for dealing with hate crimes, has also been issued.
The SPVM has also published a new edition of the resource organization directory for at-risk youth. This is a tool police officers use in dealing with troubled or troublesome youth, but it is useful for everyone.
Finally, we invite you to browse through the "Prevention" and "Youth" sections of our website, where you will find a host of crime prevention advice.
