A shared responsibility

Un policier du PDQ 7 accueille une citoyenne au poste

"Public security - a shared responsibility" is the theme for 2010 Police Week, which runs from May 9 to 15.

Besides holding bridge-building activities with Montréal residents in our 33 neighbourhood stations (PDQ), the SPVM has also planned a number of service-wide activities.

Celebrate the tireless work

One of these activities will celebrate the tireless work done by our community partners and the efforts of police officers who distinguished themselves this year. A relaxed, friendly gathering is planned, where participants will be able to ask questions to officers and the SPVM management. They'll also have the opportunity to meet members of the different SPVM units, such as the 9-1-1 service, the canine unit, the Bureau du taxi et du remorquage, the criminal identification unit, and more.

Le toujours très populaire Flik

School celebrations

Every year the SPVM mascot, Flik, celebrates his birthday with the cycle-1 students at a Montréal elementary school. This year Flik is headed for École Jules-Verne in Montréal-Nord, which was ransacked by vandals earlier this year.

Flik will take along small gifts and a huge cake to share with all his birthday guests. Unfortunately, Flik is too coy to let us reveal his real age.

In the neighbourhood stations

Rencontre de citoyens par une policière du PDQ 42

The community relations officers in our neighbourhood stations will head out to local community centres, businesses, schools, and seniors centres to talk about speeding, drunk driving, street gangs, bicycle safety, children's car seats, senior fraud, merchant safety, careers with the police, theft and break-ins, bullying and violence in schools, and a host of other police-related topics.

To find out more about the activities in our PDQs, please check our activity calendar.
