The Police Service of Montreal (SPVM) leaps once again to the forefront of community involvement by launching COOP (Collaboration Optimale entre les Organismes Partenaires) , a brand new outreach program geared towards community agencies in Montreal.
The COOP Program is aimed at helping people understand and appreciate the daily challenges that police officers are confronted with through meeting citizens in everyday situations and engaging in a true dialogue by creating a milieu favourable to discussion.
Composed of a series of informational meetings on various topics, COOP stresses the administrative and operational procedures of the SPVM and offers community agencies a fascinating view into police life:

The best COOP benefit will be when the participants carry out a patrol for a few hours on the streets of Montreal with a police officer; a real life look at the daily experiences that police officers face.

Launched on May 15th during "Lets Talk About Action" day at the Centre culturel et communautaire de Montréal-Nord, (Montreal-North Arts and Community Centre), the first in a series of workshops started on June 10th at the District 39 Station in Montreal-North. Initially a pilot project, the COOP program will gradually make its way to all 32 District stations during the next few months.
We will keep you informed about this project and on how to take part in it.
