December 11, 2007 - From now on, the visual identity (or logo) of the entire SPVM family is represented by the star and human silhouette followed by the acronym SPVM. It will be used everywhere: business cards, flags, stationery, print productions, etc.

With the launch of the next generation of neighbourhood police stations, under the service coverage plan, the SPVM adopted a new identity for all personnel, including civilian employees, police officers, cadets, school crossing guards, parking agents and taxi bureau and towing inspectors.

This new logo was developed through consultation with citizens and police officers, who agreed that the arrival of new service units called for a cohesive visual identity. The police officers consulted stressed the importance of maintaining the distinctive SPVM brand, which has been a symbol of our heritage for 35 years.

The beginnings of what we call the "star" date back to the symbol used during Expo 67, a visual identity that accentuated fraternity and solidarity between peoples. This was the image that inspired the designers of the famous SPVM star. It stands for excellence, and the human silhouette we see within it reminds us that respect for our fellow humans is the focus of every member of the Service.

United in a single identity

The SPVM logo is found on all police vehicles and on the badges of every SPVM unit, which main their distinct identity through colour combinations unique to each unit.

Over the new few weeks, you will also see and hear our new slogan, "Le SPVM, une équipe engagée" (the SPVM, a committed team), which attests to our desire to take our place at the heart of life in Montréal.
