
Auxiliary constables work in the Centres opérationnels and carry out the following tasks:
RECALL RIGHTS
When temporary police officers are hired, priority is given to auxiliary constables if they meet the requirements of the job.
SALARY
The following salary scale for auxiliary constables came into effect on December 31, 2010:

Furthermore, a metropolitan bonus of 1.5% is incorporated to the police officer's annual salary.
WORKING HOURS
Auxiliary constables generally work 12-hour shifts.
VACATION AND HOLIDAYS
In light of the peculiarities of police work, holiday hours are added to a bank of annual leave time.

LEAVE
The collective agreement makes several types of leave available to auxiliary constables:
Social leave
Social leave is granted for marriage, deaths, births or adoption.
Maternity and parental leave
A pregnant auxiliary constable is granted 20 weeks of maternity leave. For the entire period, the auxiliary constable receives payment equal to 90% of her gross weekly pay.
At the end of her maternity leave, the auxiliary constable may take unpaid parental leave for up to 52 weeks. This leave is also available to male auxiliary constables whose wives have given birth. The father may take parental leave as soon as the child is born.
An auxiliary constable who legally adopts a child can also take unpaid parental leave for up to 52 weeks.
Deferred pay leave
Auxiliary constables who have 5 years of service can take a deferred pay leave over a period of 2 to 5 years. The time off may vary from 6 to 12 months.
Unpaid leave
The director of the SPVM may accept a justified request for unpaid leave from an auxiliary constable who has over 3 years of service. Over the course of their careers, constables may be granted unpaid leave for a maximum of 2 periods of up to 12 consecutive months each.
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The services of an assistance program are available for all SPVM officers and auxiliary constables.
The SPVM is recognized for its professionalism and the quality of the programs it has developed over the years, including its suicide prevention and police-resource programs.
PENSION PLAN
Auxiliary constables participate in the SPVM pension plan.
