Process

Before completing you police cadet job application form, please read about the selection process.

In addition to meeting the selection criteria, you must pass the 4 stages of the selection process:

INTERVIEW

The purpose of the 30-minute interview is to find out more about you.

MEDICAL EXAM

For police techniques students, the SPVM will check with your academic institution to ensure you have passed the medical exam.

Students from other disciplines must, at the SPVM's request, take medical tests proving they are fit for the task.

SECURITY CHECK

You must have no judicial record and not have committed any reprehensible acts that could disqualify you from being a police cadet.

The security check consists of checking with sources near you (employers, family, neighbours, professors) to determine whether your behaviour meets the standards of the SPVM.

TRAINING

The mandatory, remunerated training period is necessary to qualify your candidature. It prepares you to assume your responsibilities as a cadet.

It is about 45 hours long.
