Executive and union positions are awarded in compliance with the hiring process stipulated in the city of Montréal's collective agreements or administrative executive working agreements.

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD

For a description of the responsibilities of a school crossing guard, please refer to the Career prospects section.

The selection process includes a test and a 1-day eliminatory training program.

A satisfactory medical exam is required.

EXECUTIVE

Executive positions are posted on Montréal website and occasionally in the newspapers.

The eligibility conditions are specified on each posting.

Eligible candidates must qualify for each stage of the hiring process.

The process includes an interview and, depending on the position, various job-specific tests.

WHITE COLLAR WORKER

The collective agreement sets out the following stages for filling a position:

  • if the positions are not filled by internal candidates, the SPVM may move to the external recruitment stage
  • the positions are posted on Montréal website and occasionally in the newspapers
  • the eligibility conditions are specified in the job posting
  • eligible candidates must qualify for each stage of the hiring process
  • the process includes an interview and, depending on the position, various job-specific tests.

BLUE COLLAR WORKERS

The collective agreement sets out the following stages for filling positions:

  • if the positions are not filled by internal candidates, the SPVM may move to the external recruitment stage

  • the eligibility conditions are specified in the job posting
  • eligible candidates must qualify for each stage of the hiring process
  • the process includes an interview and, depending on the position, job-specific tests
  • a medical examination must be passed
